A new EMS Station will be built in Waterdown

As Waterdown and Ward 15 continue to grow, there is a clear need to expand safety services. Already under construction is a new Police / Fire Station, near the corner of Parkside Dr and highway 6. The location will house 40 full-time police officers and a dozen full-time fire fighters when it opens. Moreover, there is a similar need to invest in emergency medical services as well. In early October, Hamilton EMS indicated it will be expanding into a new 3700 sq/ft station, near the property on which the new Police / Fire compound is already being built in Waterdown.

At present, one ambulance, plus a rapid response unit are always available inside Ward 15. An additional 12-hour ambulance is on call during peak daytime demand. After the new EMS station is constructed, EMS services will be stationed at two separate locations in in Waterdown, with an additional mobile rapid response unit roaming the Carlisle / Millgrove / Freelton areas to ensure fast response times to the rural areas of Ward 15.

Design work for the EMS station will begin in 2027 with construction planned for 2028. In 2024, I hosted a Community Safety town hall and invited (then) Chief Sanderson and (then) Deputy Chief Crocker to participate.
