Traffic pressures returning to normal, as major projects take shape around the community
Traffic congestion in Ward 15 is now easing greatly, as the various projects related to infrastructure growth are coming to fruition. In June, the steel girders for the south section of the new Grindstone Creek bridge were installed. Work is now progressing on the south-side bridge deck. Encouragingly, the project is progressing well and remains on budget and on schedule. The return of all day, two-way traffic is on track for this fall. At that time, the single north-side lane will be demolished and rebuilt. The entire project will be completed in spring/summer 2027.
As for temporary road closures, Parkside Dr has reopened at Highway 6 following the completion of watermain and sewer works needed for Waterdown’s new police/fire station. On Skinner Rd at Dundas St, the installation of 180 meters of sanitary sewer infrastructure is now finished and the road has also reopened.
Finally, the extensive widening of Waterdown Rd, between Mountain Brow Rd and Highway 403, including underground utility work and path creation, will be completed in late fall / early winter 2026. Combined, these simultaneous projects fueled traffic congestion within Waterdown. As they all come to an end, the result will be significantly enhanced infrastructure and improved traffic flow, within a safer community.
Medical Centre coming to corner of Hamilton St and Dundas St
An abandoned gas station has long blighted the corner of the busy Waterdown intersection. Sitting derelict for years, it will soon be revitalized. At my behest, the City has repaired an underground infrastructure issue preventing new construction. The future development of the corner lot is supported by the City and a developer is currently in the process of securing a demolition permit. Thereafter, the stated plan is to build a three-story medical centre, along with associated above-grade parking spaces.

Introducing Hamilton’s Truck Route Monitoring Dashboard
Residents, particularly rural residents in Carlisle and Millgrove, have long had issues with large trucks disrespecting Hamilton’s approved Truck Route. Working with concerned citizens and rural Councillors, we established a Rural Road Task Force to broadly support the needs of rural residents. Along with a plan to implement an enhanced rural pothole protocol, I am committed to removing trucks from Carlisle Rd. Simultaneously, a new digital tool was created to help Hamilton Police Service enforce the Truck Route. Residents can assist HPS by quickly reporting violations via hamilton.ca/TruckRoute.
More capital investment committed to Ward 15 in the last four years, than the last 20 years combined!
$60 million for a new, joint police and fire compound, including new #911 dispatch and traffic reporting centres
Tens of millions committed for Ward 15's first Community Recreation Centre, including a pool, plus additional field and outdoor court spaces
Approximately $500,000 (in non-tax levy funding) for community groups, service clubs, and food banks across Waterdown, Carlisle and Flamborough
