Potential Long Term Care Home in Waterdown

The City of Hamilton is preparing to seek interested parties to develop and operate a portion of 207 Parkside Drive with a Long Term Care (LTC) Home. The anticipated plan includes the creation of 40 LTC beds on a portion of municipal land adjacent to YMCA building. At present, LTC occupancy rates sit at 98% or greater and at any given time, Hamilton has a range of 1500 to 2000 residents on the Ontario Health at Home waitlist.

The City of Hamilton webpage to communicate information about the proposal can be found here.

Everyone is invited to a drop in Open House to learn about the proposed development:

Date: Thursday, September 25
Time: 4:30 to 6pm (Open House) & 6:30 to 7:15 pm (Presentation, same information as the Open House)
Location: 163 Dundas Street East, Hamilton Public Library – Waterdown Branch

Drop-in anytime during the hours shown. Upon arrival, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Review information and learn about the City’s efforts to support the development of a Long Term Care Home on a portion of 207 Parkside Drive

  • The reasons why this site is being considered

  • Gain insights of the processes involved

At the open house, residents will have the opportunity to ask questions through discussion with staff. In addition, the YMCA is a partner in this potential project and representatives will also be available at the Open House to speak to some of the concerns related to utilizing a portion of the current YCMA overflow parking area for a LTC home.
