It’s Supie Season in Hamilton
Waterdown’s Memorial Park and Gatesbury Park will host the Supie program full-time between June 20 and August 22
The Supie program, now in its 116th year of operation, offers free drop-in activities during the summer for children at neighbourhood parks across the city. Programming varies based on participants in attendance and weather, and may include active games, crafts, circle games, or use of equipment/supplies.
Supies will operate across Hamilton June 30 through August 22. Both Memorial Park and Gatesbury Park in Waterdown will host the Supie program from Monday to Friday, from 10:30am to 3:30pm all summer long. For the last few years, the Gatesbury Park location had been operating as a one-day-a-week, ‘pop-up’ location, but it has been elevated to a full-time Supie location this summer.
Children should bring the following to a Supie day: healthy snacks, refillable water bottle, hat, sunscreen, running shoes/athletic sandals (not flip flops). Supie staff do not replace parent/guardian supervision, as this isn’t a day camp. Rather, children join or leave activities as they wish! All programs are free of charge, and basic information (name, age, phone number) will be collected on site.
Programming is weather dependent, and all efforts will be made to adjust activities before cancelling. Supie programs may be modified or cancelled in the event of extreme weather or if it is unsafe for children to participate. The Supie program will not be offered on July 1 (Canada Day), July 8, August 1, and August 4 (Civic Day). More info can be found online at hamilton.ca/supie.
